Certified translations are for official uses. The certification is required to verify that the translation is complete and accurate. This type of translation is commonly required for submission to U.S. Immigration (USCIS), universities, courts and many local, state, and federal governments.
Maria G. Mercau is a translator originally from Argentina who currently resides in the US. Encouraged by her passion for legal content translations, in October 2009, Mrs. Mercau got a professional certificate in Contract Law, Contracts Drafting, and Translation Techniques at the Sworn Translators’ Association of the City of Buenos Aires (CTPCBA). On October 9ᵗʰ, 2009 she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Technical & Scientific English-Spanish Translation, and on December 21ˢᵗ, 2009 she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal English-Spanish Translation at CAECE University in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In February 2010, she started working as a full-time freelance translator for businesses from the US, Canada, and Europe. A month later, she was hired to join the Language Department of CAECE University when she was appointed Assistant Professor for the course of study Computer Assisted English into Spanish Translation. Her job consisted in teaching students to apply computer assisted tools (CATs) to translation and quality control processes. In March 2011, she was also appointed Assistant Professor in two other courses of study: Legal English and Spanish Terminology I and Legal English and Spanish Terminology II. In such courses, she instructed students to develop the fundamental terminological knowledge essential for professional written legal translations. In order to continue updating her professional knowledge of computer assisted translation tools, Mrs. Mercau obtained a certificate in Trados Studio at the CTPCBA in September 2011. Three years later, she got a certificate in English-Spanish Translation of Business Organizations Agreements and Contracts at the CTPCBA. After an outstanding teaching performance, Mrs. Mercau quit her job at CAECE University in December 2014 and moved to San Diego, California to enroll in the Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation (Spanish/English) at the University of California, San Diego Extension (UCSD). In December 2018, her dream came true, and she founded her company MGM Linguistic Solutions®. From that date, she has been passionate about making her business grow and serve US Government Agencies, School Districts, Non-Profit Organizations, and Fortune 500 companies.
